Iraqi Zahdi Dates

We serve wholesale and export enquiries only; we do not sell retail. A trial order starts from one tonne, subject to the destination and to shipping availability, while a full container load usually achieves a better cost per tonne. We advise on the most suitable option once we know the quantity and the port of arrival.

The Zahdi dates we supply are of Iraqi origin, collected, graded and prepared through our suppliers in Karbala. Origin and crop details are stated in the quotation and in the agreed documents.

We offer several grades to suit different markets and uses:

• Grade A: premium retail and consumer packing.
• Grade B: supermarkets, wholesalers and distribution.
• Grade C: repacking and economy markets.
• Grade D, industrial: syrup and paste production and other suitable industrial uses.

If you are unsure which grade you need, tell us the intended use, the market and your target price, and we will suggest the closest fit.

Yes. Size, colour, moisture content, grading, packing type and acceptable defect limits can all be discussed, subject to the quantity and to processing capacity. The final specification is fixed in the quotation or contract and in the approved reference sample.

We pack in cartons or food-grade bags in a range of weights, including 10 kg cartons and bulk bags, according to the grade and the target market. The packing material, net weight and count per container are confirmed before contracting.

The load varies with the container type, the permitted weight limits, the packaging weight, and whether pallets are used and how the cargo is stacked. As a rough guide:

• 20ft container: approximately 18–20 tonnes.
• 40ft container: approximately 26–28 tonnes.

The final load and carton count are fixed once the packing and loading plan are approved. This estimate is not to be treated as a binding final weight.

Yes. Private label can be prepared carrying your brand name, artwork, language, barcode and importer details. The carton or label design is approved in writing before printing, and may be subject to a minimum quantity, an additional cost and extra preparation time.

Yes. A sample can be sent so you can assess quality and approve the specification before a commercial order is executed. The sample cost, the courier charge and the dispatch date depend on the country and the delivery method. Where the contract provides for it, the approved sample becomes the reference when the shipment is prepared.

Price depends on the grade, the specification, the crop, the quantity, the packing type, any private label, the Incoterm and the destination port. We therefore issue a separate quotation for each enquiry, and prices hold for the validity period written on that quotation, because product and freight rates move.

We can quote on commercial terms such as:

• FOB Umm Qasr: the consignment delivered on board at the port of Umm Qasr.
• CFR: the price includes sea freight to the destination port.
• CIF: the price includes sea freight and insurance to the destination port.

The final delivery term is stated explicitly in the quotation and the contract, under the agreed Incoterms edition.

We handle export enquiries to international markets subject to the quantity, the availability of shipping lines and the import rules of the destination country. Send us the country and the port and we will review whether we can ship and quote the cost available.

It varies with the quantity, the grade, crop availability and the packing type. Private label orders and large volumes normally need extra time for printing and preparation. We state the expected preparation time in writing in the quotation before work begins.

Transit time depends on the destination port, the shipping line, the vessel schedule, the transit routing and port procedures. We give an estimate when the freight offer is issued, but it remains subject to carrier and port schedules changing.

Payment terms are set according to the order value, the quantity and the nature of the transaction. They may involve an agreed bank transfer, or a letter of credit for qualifying transactions. Preparation begins only after the agreement is signed and the payment or the financial guarantee specified in the contract has been received.

Documents are prepared according to the product, the importing country and the terms of the contract, and may include:

• Commercial invoice.
• Packing list.
• Certificate of origin.
• Health certificate or phytosanitary certificate where applicable.
• Bill of lading.
• Additional inspection certificates where the buyer requests them and they are agreed in advance.

The importer must give us their country's specific requirements before the order is confirmed. No additional certificate should be assumed available unless it is named in the offer or the contract.

Yes. Inspection and documentation during grading, packing and loading can be agreed. The buyer may also appoint an independent inspection body at their own cost, provided both the body and the acceptance criteria are agreed before preparation starts.

Shelf life depends on the condition of the crop, the moisture content, the packing type and the storage temperature. Dates must be kept somewhere cool, dry, clean and well ventilated, away from humidity, sunlight and strong odours. The final shelf life and storage conditions are stated on the packaging, according to the test results and the agreed specification.

Yes. Monthly or seasonal supply and repeat volumes can be discussed, subject to crop availability and operating capacity. The quantity, the schedule and either the price or the mechanism for updating it are set out in a separate supply contract.
